Segway Tours of Ancient Jerusalem

Ever since the Segway was invented, it was all my husband Mike talked about. So imagine my excitement when I learned that the City of David also offered Segway tours of Jerusalem! You have to be 18 years old to join this tour, so I knew I’d be the one  to stay back with the kids. Luckily, my husband has a close friend who made aliyah a few years ago and he called him and they met one sunny afternoon at the starting point in Talpiot. It was like arranging a play date for two Forty-something- year -olds; they couldn’t have been happier. Even though we can Segway around the museum campus in downtown Chicago, it just doesn’t compare to rolling through and around the paths of the breathtaking promenades at Armon Hanatziv inside the picturesque neighborhood of Talpiot. This is a perfect date, or get together with your friends. My kids are finally old enough to look after themselves for a few hours, so I’m looking forward to doing this with my husband on our next trip.

The two hour tours in Hebrew and English leave at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 4 p.m. Friday tours leave at 9 a.m. and  11:30 a.m.

You must be 18 to drive a Segway.  Tours leave from the Peace Forest.

Tip: The Segway Station is a bit hidden. Ask for very clear directions when you make your reservation and give yourself enough time to find your way. The good news is that the paths are beautiful and you will enjoy the walk.
